How should my child or young person be supported in school?
Every child and young person should receive the support they need to help them learn, take part in school life and achieve their potential. Schools and colleges are responsible for identifying and meeting the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Support will look different for each child or young person and should be based on their individual needs and strengths. This may include changes to teaching methods, additional support from staff, specialist advice, adapted resources, or support with communication, social, emotional, physical or sensory needs.
In this section, you can find information about the support schools should provide, how needs are identified and reviewed, and what to do if you have concerns about your child or young person's progress or the support they are receiving.
