SEN Provision in Hampshire

Find information about specialist early years, school and college places in Hampshire for children and young people with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans. 

Placements into these provisions are made by the Hampshire County Council's Special Educational Needs (SEN) Service.

The following abbreviations and definitions will support when identifying SEN Provision in Hampshire.

Definitions

Resourced Provision - A Resourced Provision is a specialist provision that is part of a mainstream school. The child will normally spend part of his or her time in mainstream classes with friends and peers but will also spend some time in the Resourced Provision to access the additional specialist help and support available there.  

SEND Independence Hubs - Provide high needs learners (severe learning difficulties and Complex Needs) with safe spaces and bespoke curriculum offers within mainstream college sites to develop pathways to adulthood. 

Special Schools - Special schools are “schools specially organised to make special educational provision for pupils with special educational needs” (Department for Education). Special schools are “schools specially organised to make special educational provision for pupils with special educational needs” (Department for Education).

Supported Internships - Structured study programmes based primarily at an employer. They enable young people aged 16-24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work, through learning in the workplace. Supported Internships are also hosted outside of colleges sites, additional providers of Supported Internships are available on the Local Offer. You can find out more about post 16 offers.
