Leisure and Play - Hampshire Gateway

We know how important Short Breaks are for children and young people with SEND — and for their families too. They give children the opportunity to have fun, try new things, build confidence and make friends. At the same time, parents and carers can take some time to rest, focus on other family members, or connect with others who understand their experiences.

There are lots of leisure and recreational opportunities taking place across Hampshire, including both specialist and mainstream activities. You can search for leisure and play opportunities in your local area on this page.

The Gateway Card and Gateway Card+ are free cards for children and young people between the ages of 0-17 years who live in the Hampshire County Council area.

Across Hampshire and beyond, many leisure and play providers recognise the Gateway Card as confirmation that your child or young person may need additional support to access their activities. The Gateway Card does not give you access to the specialist play schemes that are accessed with a Gateway+ Card, but it can help you get a reduced entry fee or free entry for a carer when attending certain activities. You can find a list of participating providers by clicking on the Gateway Card tile below.

If your child or young person needs extra support to take part in community activities, playschemes or leisure opportunities, you can apply for a Gateway Card+. You can search activities funded through Short Breaks by selecting the Gateway Card+ tile below.

To apply for a Gateway Card or a Gateway+ Card, select 'Apply for your Gateway Card or Gateway Card+' below.

A new survey is available for:
