Resolving your concerns relating to an EHCP decision and Mediation

When disagreements arise in connection with special educational needs the County Council aims to do all it can to resolve any differences without the need to resort to formal process. Details of why decisions are made will always be provided in any decision letters, located on the SEN Hub.

However, from time to time, it may be necessary to call upon the services of an independent disagreement resolution and mediation Service.

The mediation service for Hampshire is Global Mediation

Parents and young people wishing to appeal to the SEND Tribunal must be able to demonstrate that they have considered using mediation to resolve the situation.

If you contact Global Mediation they will get back to you and explain what mediation is and how it works. You can then decide whether you want to try mediation or not.

Whether you go to mediation or not you will be given a certificate which you can then use to lodge an appeal.

If you only wish to appeal the name of the education provision named on the EHCP, you do not have to consider mediation.
