Re-engage
Description:
Re-engage (formerly known as Contact the Elderly) is a charity that organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over, who live alone. Offering a regular and vital friendship link every month, each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host’s home for the afternoon.
Re-engage has a free telephone befriending service, called Call Companions, for older people who live alone and feel they would enjoy a friendly phone call every week or two.
A new service - Rainbow Call Companion - has now been launched. This is a service specifically for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender plus (LGBT+) people over 75 who would like to speak to someone who's also LGBT+.
Re-engage is always looking for volunteers - for our Call Companions service, to host a party, to drive guests or to co-ordinate.
