Hampshire Youth Hubs

Youth Hubs bring together support for young people aged 16 to 24 who are looking for help with employment, education or training opportunities. They are run jointly by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), local councils and partner organisations.

There are currently Youth Hubs operating in several areas close to Hampshire, including:

  • Havant
  • Southampton
  • Basingstoke and Deane

A new Youth Hub is also planned for Gosport.

Depending on the location, Youth Hubs may offer:

  • Support to find a job
  • Help with CVs, applications and interview skills
  • Advice about education and training opportunities
  • Access to careers information and guidance
  • Support to build confidence, skills and employability
  • Signposting to other local services

Youth Hubs are open to all young people, although some services may be particularly aimed at those who are unemployed or claiming Universal Credit.

Inclusion EB8 (Employability Bridge) is a supported employment and personal development programme for young people aged 16–25 who may face barriers to employment, including young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), neurodivergence, or mental health challenges.

The Youth Hub helps young people build confidence, develop practical skills, and prepare for adulthood through:

  • One-to-one careers and wellbeing support
  • Job coaching and employability skills training
  • Help with CV writing, job searching and interview preparation
  • ASDAN-accredited qualifications
  • Work experience and supported work placements
  • Vocational taster sessions and employer-led workshops
  • Independent living and personal development activities
  • Support for mental health and neurodiversity needs
  • Opportunities to connect with local employers and community organisations

The programme is designed for young people who may not have thrived in traditional college settings and need additional support to explore employment, further training, or independent living. Support is tailored to individual needs and can be accessed by young people with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Link Up Youth Hub supports young people aged 16–24 living in Havant and the surrounding areas who need help with employment, education, training, or developing new skills. The service works in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Havant Borough Council.

The Hub offers personalised one-to-one support to help young people move towards employment, education, or training, including:

  • CV writing and job application support
  • Interview preparation and attendance support
  • Help finding training courses and qualifications
  • Support to access education, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities
  • Work experience and volunteering opportunities
  • Confidence building
  • Health and wellbeing support
  • Employment and skills training sessions

Young people can receive tailored advice based on their individual goals and circumstances, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and take positive next steps towards their future.

Location: Front Lawn Community Hub, Somborne Drive, Havant, PO9 5AN. The Hub is open Monday to Friday and can also offer virtual appointments for young people who prefer not to attend in person.

The service is delivered in partnership between Southampton City Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to help young people move into employment, apprenticeships, training, and further opportunities.

The Hub offers a range of practical employment support, including:

  • One-to-one employment support and careers advice
  • Help creating or updating CVs and cover letters
  • Job search and application support
  • Interview preparation and job coaching
  • Access to free training courses and local training providers
  • Use of computers, Wi-Fi and printing facilities
  • Support to access apprenticeships, training and employment opportunities
  • Signposting to housing, benefits, health and wellbeing services where needed

Young people can receive personalised support from both Employment Officers and DWP Work Coaches, helping them build confidence, develop employability skills, and take positive steps towards work.

Location: Southampton Central Library, Civic Centre Road, Southampton SO14 7LW. The Hub is open Monday to Friday.
