What are my education options after I leave school?
All children and young people have the right to go to school or college full-time until they are 16.
After you turn 16, you still need to learn or train until you are 18.
You can choose what works best for you.
You could:
- Stay in education, like school, college or sixth form
- Do a Supported Internship (this helps you learn job skills)
- Start an apprenticeship (work and learn at the same time)
- Work or volunteer for 20 hours or more each week, and also do some part-time learning
Many young people with SEND find these years really helpful.
They can learn new skills, grow in confidence, and get ready for adult life.
