What you told us and what’s changed

Two people with colorful hand drawn speech bubbles above their heads, expressing communication, conversation, ideas, and varied views on white background.

Your voice matters. By telling us about your experiences of the Local Offer and SEND services in Hampshire, you can help us understand what is working well and what could be better.

We want to be open about what you tell us and what happens next. We will share the feedback we receive, the changes we make in response and why those decisions were made.

Parents, carers, children and young people also help us shape and improve the Local Offer through our Local Offer Steering Group.

Each year, we publish an Annual Report showing what families have told us and how we have responded

The latest Local Offer Annual Report and the Steering Group Terms of Reference can be found in the document downloads section on this page.

You said

Awareness of the Local Offer remains a challenge, particularly for families at SEN Support level and those early in their SEND journey.

SENDIASS feedback on a variety of topics, including:

  • Too many clicks to reach some information
  • Links needed to other Hampshire County Council information pages where relevant
  • Too much text used, impacting on accessibility
  • Should include Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) as a shortcut to find information
  • Some areas in the Activities, Leisure and Play tab show listings in the incorrect area, broken links and no indication of capacity of providers
  • Under the Social Care tab, there was no mention of eligibility or how to apply
  • Independent non-maintained special schools and independent schools missing from Local Offer

We did

Increased engagement activity, supported 11 Local Offer Discovery Days, gathered feedback from over 100 survey responses and began work with partners to improve awareness through education, health and community services.

Key information has been grouped into clearer sections, reducing the number of clicks needed to access support and guidance.

We added links to related Hampshire County Council services and information pages where appropriate.

We reviewed and rewrote content using plain English principles, reducing unnecessary text, improving page layouts and making information easier to scan and understand.

We are planning to create an information finder like this one: Information Finder

We carried out a review of provider listings, correcting categorisation issues, removing old listings and broken links and working with providers to improve the quality and accuracy of information displayed.

We reviewed the Social Care content and added clearer information about eligibility criteria, referral routes and how families can apply for or access support.

We link to a site which allows parents to search for independent and Section 41 schools: Education settings in Hampshire
