Care Leavers with Disabilities, SEND or Additional Needs
Leaving care can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming.
If you have a disability, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), a long-term health condition, learning disability, autism, ADHD, mental health needs, sensory impairment, or any other additional need, you may need extra support as you become more independent.
You are not expected to manage everything on your own. There is support available to help you stay safe, healthy, happy and confident as you move into adulthood.
The Preparation for Adulthood section helps young people with SEND plan for the future. It provides information about staying healthy, managing money, finding work, continuing education, travelling independently, living on your own, moving into adult services and having your say about the support and services available to you.
